Hi again, guys.

I'll spare the pleasantries, since I just said them all, like, five minutes ago in my post on episode 31.

Ah, "New France-themed" food. A topic with which I an intimately familiar, having served it to many an American out of giant pewter jugs while wearing a wench vest.

...hey, wait a second. Were you unfortunately subject to the Festin show at Le Vauquelin?

I guess you were shy and awkward in high school, but I never really noticed it then. ...Isn't it great not to be teenagers anymore? Now you can have a conversation with pretty much anyone and not have to worry about whether or not you're being perceived as social climbing and/or slumming. Glory be.

Listening to you guys talk about the string of teenage gay students just breaks my heart. Part of me wants to start screaming and ranting and the other part just doesn't know what to say.

You know what, Alyssa, the kids have grown up in a world with more exposure to positive gay role models, but their parents, and their churches and their football coaches and their friends' parents and their principals and their,... ugh, effing EVERYONE doesn't support it. I can't even begin to tell you about the things I see and hear at the school.

(One of my colleagues made a good point about the sad case of the young man from Rutgers. She said that one of the problems is that technology is moving too quickly for us to keep up with educating the kids to use them ethically. But that has nothing directly to do with the bullying, degradation and sadness that gay youth face every day.)

YES! Please invite me to talk. I say yes.

Moreover, I am going to tape record my kids talking about it.

So I'll stop talking now and save more for then.

TW- I haven't seen you in a long time. (Also: I didn't call AB on his birthday. Did you?) Hopefully I will soonly. Maybe Thanksgiving weekend?

...There's a Radio 3 now???

Can you guys play some Fleetwood Mac for me sometime in the coming week? "Beautiful Child" or "Gypsy" if it floats your boat.

Goodnight, PJs.

Oh Sweet Nuthin' - good song.

The conversation about suicide got me thinking about my high school days and how students dealt with being picked on by classmates. Teasing, for whatever lame reason, seems to be engrained in society. However, today some people have ramped it up by using new technologies to embarrass others in front of all of mankind. They are achieving whole new levels of meanness. And, the wide publicity of the resulting tragic outcomes only leads to copycat incidents. Really sad stuff.

Linking this morbid topic with K's wish for Fleetwood Mac music you may choose to play "Dust" (from a Rupert Brooke poem).

On a happier note...
As a follow up to one of your previous episodes, it looks like the City of Hamilton may build the Pan/Am stadium at a completely different site from the original two options - near the CP yards. Hopefully Alissa as a Hamiltonian (and ardent TiCat fan) can provide us with an update next time around.

As for special guests on ASR, bring 'em on.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend,

Brutus
