Way to put on the pressure, TW.

I request that instead of your regular opening music, you play the rondeau by Mouret or Hoedown by Aaron Copeland.

Okay, here are some ideas, falling under your categories:

TOPICS
-gender testing in sports (that was my student's suggestion. they liked talking about that.)
- read the book, watch the movie and be disappointed OR watch the movie THEN read the book? (a timeless debate)
-some lightning round questions:

favorite poem
movie which best exemplifies your sense of humour
ridiculous childhood fear
word you use which you worry you don'tactually know the real meaning of.

MUSIC
-Transliterator by DeVotchKa
-Lydia the Tattooed Lady by Groucho Marx
-You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oates
-America by Simon and Garfunkel
-Koop Island Blues by KOOP
-Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On) by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant
- Any Song in which the first letter in the title is "K". (K for Kristen.)If you want to get extra crazy, have the artist or group name start with a "W".

SILLINESS
-MUH-stache or MOO-stache: you decide.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Kristen has recommended some great topics!

And speaking of Aaron Copeland, I believe it may be worth looking at the influence of classical music on modern music. To date, ASR has highlighted outstanding music from a wide variety of genres covering primarily the 20th and 21st centuries. In fact your show has opened my eyes to artists and songs that I had never heard of previously.

The Beatles admitted to having been influenced by not only Chuck Berry, but also by J.S. Bach. Strauss' "Thus Spake Zarathustra" got a new lease on life with the release of the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". When Emerson, Lake and Palmer covered A. Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal a lot of young people got excited about some of the classics. And Verve was undoubtedly influenced by orchestral arrangements when they wrote "Bittersweet Symphony".

Alternatively...
In the previous episode of ASR you addressed the national anthem, and possible changes to the lyrics. You have also looked at great American hits from past decades. This got me thinking: what about asking listeners for their favourite and most meaningful Canadian songs of all time?

Lots of fodder.

Hope this helps,
Brutus

p.s.

I thought my musical interests were rather eclectic! Otherwise Known as "Miss" takes the cake.

I really want to hear about the foodies in you! Favourite restaurant, favourite dish you ever had anywhere, favourite thing to cook.... I'm a little hungry right which may explain this desire but I just need some culinary discussion!

Music:

I'm really feelin If you're wondering if I want you to etc, weezer!

some random white stripes song would be cool

and if possible, tyler singing while Alissa slaps the bass!
